County Wide Annual Lakes, Rivers & Coastal Cleanup
Citrus County's 31st Annual Save Our Waters Week (SOWW), sponsored by Keep Citrus County Beautiful Inc., will be September 19-26, 2026, with the theme, “CONSERVE WATER TODAY FOR TOMORROW”. The week, which promotes public appreciation and awareness to save our irreplaceable waters, features activities offered free to the public.
The week kicks off with the 37th Annual Lakes, Rivers and Coastal Cleanup on Saturday, September 19. Individuals and groups across the county are encouraged to participate. Click here to register. County Wide Annual Lakes, Rivers & Coastal Cleanup
Registration is now open for the County's Annual Lakes, Rivers and Coastal Cleanup! This year there are two registration options — New Group (groups registering for the first time) and Existing Group (groups that have participated in previous years). NOTE: only 2 participants are needed to form a group.
Registration Steps
Step 1 — Register Your Group
Group leaders serve as the primary point of contact and are responsible for registering all participants. For safety reasons, each group must include at least 2 participants. Register here: https://CitrusCoastalCleanup.eventbrite.com.
Step 2 — Complete Your Group's Documentation
Upon receiving your registration confirmation email, complete and submit the following documents. Click here to download the required documents. Alternatively, documents may be picked up Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm at: UF/IFAS Citrus County Extension Office located at 3650 W. Sovereign Path, Lecanto, FL.
Required documents for all groups:
- Participant Sign-Up Sheet
- Hold Harmless Form (ONE per participant — this is required for every group member, including the group leader. Missing forms will result in disqualification.)
Example: A group of 15 members + 1 group leader = 16 completed Hold Harmless Forms required. - Shirt Request Summary
Step 3 — Submit Your Documents
Email all completed documents to Tracey Nesmith, County Aquatics Services, before the September 4 deadline. Email: [email protected].
Prefer to drop off in person? Documents will be accepted until September 4, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm at the UF/IFAS Citrus County Extension Office (address above).
Tip: Submit early! Groups that turn in documentation sooner have a better chance of receiving their requested t-shirt sizes.
Key Dates to Keep in Mind
- September 4, 2026 — Deadline to submit ALL documentation
- September 14, 2026, at 6pm — MANDATORY Safety Meeting for Group Leaders or their representative (Room 166, Lecanto Government Building)
- October 16, 2026 — Deadline to submit all data cards from the Cleanup
